Pursuing music in the air cadets is a great way to improve your musical skills and ability. It is also a great way of making new friends and collections. There are a variety of national, region and wing ensembles to play in. Some of these include marching bands and choirs! Annual music camps also occur and it is arranged by air cadets HQ. They often include working with professional RAF bands and music personnel. There are two professional bands within the RAF, The band of the RAF college and The band of the RAF Regiment.

There are also opportunities to play at national events. Some of these events include the Air cadets festival of music at Lincoln Cathedral and performing on Britain’s got Talent!

A wide range of instruments can be played within air cadet bands and ensembles. Here are some standard band instruments:
  • Saxophones
  • Bugles
  • Cornets
  • Trumpets
  • Basses
  • Cymbals
  • Side drum
  • Bass drum

Playing with your squadron, wing, region or a national ensemble will make your experience at cadets even better and it is your chance to improve your musical ability and learn new skills.
